The Subud Center
Subud California at Marin is a non-profit spiritual organization. We are located in a quiet residential neighborhood
next to a large open space area in San Anselmo. Deer, rabbits, racoons, and a variety of birds frequently visit while
hiking trails ajoin the property.
We welcome you to our house, offering a meeting space which has a peaceful and spacious atmosphere for workshops,
daylong retreats, ongoing classes, and seminars. We request that no alcoholic beverages be served on site, and that smoking occur outside only.
History
The Marin Subud house structure was originally part of the Sausalito ship yards during World War II. After the war ended, surplus buildings were demolished or moved. Around 1954, the Marin County Sherriffs Association acquired two of the buildings, and moved them to the current location on 100 Sacramento Ave, where they were joined to make one large hall, with a rear addition for kitchen and entertaining space. It became their training barracks, and the driveway along one side of the building was where they had their shooting range. The flag pole in front of the building still bears their dedication: "Dedicated to a better and safer community." The Shriners owned the building for a period of time, then in 1971 the Marin Subud group acquired the property, and has owned it ever since.
Main Hall
This is a large, open, well lit space with beautiful hardwood floors, perfect for workshops, seminars, and classes such as dance or Yoga. It can accommodate well over 100 people. Approx. 2000 sq. feet, with access to the kitchen, bathrooms and to the smaller meeting hall. Wheelchair ramp.
Small Hall
Our second hall is an L-shaped, carpeted space suitable for smaller, cozier meetings. About 600 square feet. Access to kitchen, bathrooms and to the main hall.
Kitchen
Serving kitchen, with table, counters, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffee makers, dishes, utensils, hot water urns and stove. The kitchen is great for potlucks or serving light snacks.
Outdoor Areas
The Courtyard near the kitchen door has a shaded sitting area surrounded by olive, maple, and oak trees. The back parking area also has a concrete picnic/barbeque area with two picnic benches and plastic outdoor chairs available for people to use as needed.
There's a stairway to the upper parking lot and nature trails.
At the rear of the back parking area is a trail leading to the upper portion of the property, where an old orchard remains from the time when the property was farmland.

Our parking is ample, with capacity for 75 cars.
Wheelchair Accessible
Our building has access for wheelchairs.
